I'm sure it will be welcome. Tax increases usually see a small decline in smoking rates. This can then be used to pretend plain packs is working.

Of course. I like a beer and a curry so I would definately support a ban on both.
(When I first read your comment I thought it was referring to Victorian era English smokers, not Aussies)
I've just read it again.
"A survey suggests"
It either says yes or it says no. Do you support a ban on fags? Yes or no.
How can it suggest?
Yes, this is the now ubiquitous newspeak. "Research suggests that (insert pet hate here) may cause (insert awful disease here)." Followed by "Something must be done" shortly thereafter. Usually accompanied by "We have to protect the cheeeldren".
Yeah, like it's all been done to the same template.
The 'findings' usually cost us another ban or restriction even though they are meaningless.
